DJs In Cornwall series – Introducing DJ Leon

At DJSC we are extremely proud of our DJ business and something we feel we really must shout about is our Cornwall based team – the pillars of our DJ service! This month we are proud to introduce you to DJ Leon!

Introduction – drum roll please!

It may be a surprise to hear this but it is not unusual for some Wedding DJ outfits to upsell their bookings to other DJs in the Cornwall area. Whereas at DJSC we prefer to do it the old fashioned way whereby if you book us, you get us. So for fun and as part of a mini series of interviews to help you get to know the DJ Services Team we decided to put together a set of simple questions to ask our main men – the legends that be, giants of the DJ booths, DJs in Cornwall – DJ Allan Cross and DJ Leon!

Questions for DJ Leon

When I [website editor] asked Leon and Al about the idea of asking them a few questions about their experiences as DJs in Cornwall they agreed purely in the name of fun and for a bit of a laugh. Aware that they are busy being DJs about Cornwall we decided we’d keep the questions short.

Take it away Leon.

For how long have you been a DJ In Cornwall?

I have been a DJ for roughly 5 years now.

What did you do before that?

I worked in retail and still do.

Roughly how many gigs have you done?

I would say I have probably done about 400 gigs.

What wedding that you have DJ’d at really stood out and why?

I would say the wedding at the orangery garden cafe in Torpoint. As it was near to when I first started going out on my own. Fantastic people and a banging night from start to finish couldn’t have wished for a better night.

What is your favourite venue?

I wouldn’t really say I have a favourite venue as most of them down here are all just perfect in different ways, but if I had to choose one then maybe Tregenna Castle.

What are your most popular music requests?

Probably for me, dance music.

Have you ever had to save a wedding at the last minute if something went wrong?

No, not yet but I’m sure it will happen!

What do you love most about being a wedding DJ?

Meeting new couples and having the chance to play a part in their big day.

What advice would you give to aspiring DJs?

Don’t think you always are right on the music choice.

What do you like about your partnership with Al?

Where do I start? Allan is great to work with. He has very high expectations and always wants to deliver that little more. The fact that he pushes you to improve and to develop your skills. But also up for a laugh and never to serious. If it weren’t for Allan I wouldn’t be where I am today.

And finally, if you could describe your style as a DJ in a few words?

Fun, relaxed, chilled & loud!
